That’s below the level where this path usually starts to flood.
This flood line starts from years of this gauge’s history — the level the river only tops a few days a year. Reports of a flooded or passable day will tune it to the path itself.
About this path
The Trans Pennine Trail along the old navigation towpath through the limestone Don Gorge, past the Boat Inn and Sprotbrough Flash nature reserve — surfaced and shared by walkers and cyclists. The Don overtopped here in November 2019 and again in October 2023, leaving the path silted and sandbagged at the Nursery Lane entrance.
