That’s below the level where this path usually starts to flood.

This flood line starts from years of this gauge’s history — the level the river only tops a few days a year. Reports of a flooded or passable day will tune it to the path itself.

About this path

The town riverside park on the Trent opposite Newark Castle, with surfaced footpaths, play areas and moorings. It is the first place the Trent spills at Newark: footpaths and play areas were submerged in December 2023, and the riverside flooded again at record levels in January 2024 and in January 2026.

Flood Path is advisory and not safety-critical — river readings come from public feeds with no guarantee, and conditions can change fast in heavy rain. Use your own judgement on the day.
