About this path
The Wales Coast Path follows the Tywi (Towy) along Carmarthen Quay and through a low-lying wetland stretch downstream of the bridge. The official trail guide warns that the path floods whenever the river bursts its banks, and the quay has flooded repeatedly from 1987’s record overtopping to Storm Callum in 2018. Levels here also rise with the tide.
