That’s below the level where this path usually starts to flood.
This flood line starts from years of this gauge’s history — the level the river only tops a few days a year. Reports of a flooded or passable day will tune it to the path itself.
About this path
Flood meadows between the Trent's channels in the middle of Burton, crossed by surfaced paths and the Victorian Ferry Bridge walkway linking Stapenhill to the town centre. The Washlands are designed to flood and go under in most high-river events — Burton's defences worked 49 days in a single decade — with the low paths and footbridges closing while the raised walkway usually stays open.
