River Trent at Clifton Bridge · 3.3 km away

Rising — up 6 cm over the last 6 h

That’s below the level where this path usually starts to flood.

This flood line starts from years of this gauge’s history — the level the river only tops a few days a year. Reports of a flooded or passable day will tune it to the path itself.

About this path

The flat gravel paths around the flooded gravel pits between the Trent and the Erewash — Church Path, the Causeway and the riverside River Path — heavily used by birdwatchers, walkers and cyclists. Paths and the village floodgates close repeatedly when the Trent rises, most recently in October 2023 and February 2026.

Flood Path is advisory and not safety-critical — river readings come from public feeds with no guarantee, and conditions can change fast in heavy rain. Use your own judgement on the day.
